Do I need a Visa for Turkey?
No, that has been abolished this year, you can travel freely. However, a maximum stay of 90 consecutive days applies.
Travel Documents
For the flight to Turkey you need a valid passport. In any case, make sure that the passport is valid for at least 8 months at the start of the holiday.
Airline Tickets
Flight tickets are the cheapest to book directly yourself. Below a few companies with our experiences. But we fly mostly from Holland.
Flights are easy to find by entering your departure and arrival city in your browser, if you scroll down a little bit you can enter the days you want in Google and choose a flight. Functions perfectly.
Transfers
If you have booked a transfer with us from Dalaman Airport to the Yacht Classic Resort, our driver will be waiting for you upon arrival.
The driver will be waiting at the exit of the airport with a B&B Yachting sign and your name on it. He knows you’re coming.
The drive to the Yacht Classic Resort takes approximately 40 minutes. If you have rented one of our premium charter yachts in Göcek, the transfer takes about 20 minutes to drive to D-Marine.
If you have not booked a transfer, find a taxi and be taken to the Yacht Classic Hotel in Fethiye. The address is at the bottom of our website. For Göcek you want to go to D-Marine, the chauffeur will know where to go. The taxis charge fixed amounts. Ask before you get in.
Arrival in Fethiye
Upon arrival at the home base of B&B Yachting you will be welcomed by us – Wiebe and / or Yvonne. If the boat is not yet available, you can leave your luggage with us in the office and use all facilities at our resort. You can board the boat no later than 5 p.m.
The sailing yacht will be waiting for you on arrival in Fethiye in the Marina of The Yacht Classic Resort.
Upon arrival you can use all the facilities of the Yacht Classic Hotel, including the swimming pools, restaurant and pool bar! Your holiday starts with us right after arrival!
Groceries
If you already want to do your shopping, remember that you can only store the purchased goods in a cool place after delivery of the boat. Wiebe or Yvonne explain everything when boarding. You can do groceries in various supermarkets on Saturdays until midnight and on Sundays from about 8 a.m. Everything is for sale in Fethiye!
Most supermarkets deliver groceries to the boat for free. If you cannot do your shopping along the way, you will be notified in a flotilla. If you are sailing bareboat, consult the board book. You will find the board book on the chart table.
As soon as you can board the boat, we will immediately show you the way. Then there is time to unpack your things or sit back. We will indicate when the outside check-in will take place.
Flotilla
The flotilla starts “formally” the day after arrival at 11:00 am. Before or after the extensive briefing, there is plenty opportunity to do some shopping for those with a late flight.
Money
Take as little (or no) Turkish Liras with you from the Netherlands as possible. The rate is very unfavorable. It is also not advisable to exchange money at the airport in Dalaman. There are plenty of options for this in Fethiye. In Fethiye there are several ATMs as well as places where you can exchange your currency for Liras. You can pay by pin at all supermarkets and also at many restaurants. You can also pay with euros in most places, but the exchange rate used is usually less favorable due to the strong exchange rate. If you are sailing in a flotilla, we will indicate where you have the option to pin.
Bags and suitcases
You don’t have a lot of storage space on a boat. We therefore recommend that you put your luggage in bags and not in hard case suitcases because they are just too inconvenient to store.
Children’s life jackets
We have children’s life jackets available in all sizes. These are not standard on board. If you would like this, please inquire about this as soon as you check in on board.
For the little ones among us, it is highly recommended to bring a tailor-made cardigan from home. This always fits better, it benefits the comfort of the little one and reassurance for the parents and ourselves. With the right vest, even the little ones can enjoy a good swim in the turquoise blue waters of Turkey.
Linen
There are sufficient single duvets and pillows on the sailing yacht. Bed linen – a pillowcase, a duvet cover and a bottom sheet – are also provided for all crew members. Also per person a towel package consisting of 2 normal bath towels and 1 large bath towel. Of course we also provided the kitchen linen, as well as a bottle of organic washing-up liquid and the like. The first linen and bath towel packages are always service from B&B Yachting. If you want more packages, they can always be ordered via the booking form.
Power
In the Marina the boat is on the shore power. So you leave with full batteries. Not all places along the way in the area have shore power. So keep that in mind by “turning on” the engine for at least an hour during the day. Please do not do this in the bays, this will cause unnecessary noise pollution and will not be appreciated by other guests.
Water
The Turkish population mainly drinks bottled water. So do we. With the water from the water tank you can do the dishes, shower or brush your teeth. But we will leave it at that. Bottled water is available everywhere.
Showering
In any case, you can take a free shower in the Yacht Classic hotel at the Marina before you sail away and before you leave home. You can also take a shower in most bays along the way. You can of course also shower on the boat, inside and out! But be careful with the use of shower gel and shampoo. We sail in a protected nature reserve where this is strictly prohibited.
Telephony and internet
Your mobile phone, laptop and camera can be charged on board with a 12 volt plug. If you are sailing in the flotilla, you also have the opportunity in most bays to charge your electrical appliances at 220 volts. In Göcek and Fethiye and even in a number of bays we have free wireless internet.
You can also order Wifi on your sailing yacht, then you are (almost) always available. In some secluded bays the range is a bit less. Costs €. 45.00 – maximum 8GB or €. 75.00 – up to 15 GB. Please request at least 1 week before the start of the holiday. Also check with your own provider at home, in some cases Turkey is included in your current internet bundel.
Clothes
In general, the weather is nice in Turkey. If you book for the early or late season, we recommend that you bring 1 long pants and 1 fleece shirt. Although there is not much rain, a jacket is never gone and it does not take up much space. In high season you will need extra shorts, a pair of slippers and a t-shirt.
It is also advisable to bring a pair of walking shoes if you want to go on a few walking excursions with Yvonne. These can also be regular sneakers or other sturdy shoes.
Snorkel equipment
There is no snorkeling equipment on our sailing yachts. We recommend that you bring your own or possibly purchase it in Fethiye. There are several shops where they can be bought at very reasonable prices.
If your question is not listed above, you can always send us an email and you will always receive an answer.
