This western route – with its many remnants of the past, trees that are more than 2000 years old and the most fantastic views – is a true playground for the sailors among us. The uninterrupted two weeks gives the space to go a step further than what is normally possible with a switch halfway through. Below an example route, but they can vary.
This flotilla is suitable for all sailing enthusiasts who also want to see a little more of Turkey. This flotilla is also more than just a sailing holiday for children and young people. The route is flexible. The routes in June and August are halfway without any change, so we continue sailing here for the weekend, of course with a wonderful day off at a fantastic location.
Two weeks of sailing and enjoying in one of the most beautiful sailing areas in the world! Because all our flotillas depart from there and in this flotilla we not only show you all the beautiful bays and harbor towns on the route, but what about a visit to Knidos, an ancient Greek city, Selimiye or Datça.
Where possible, Yvonne takes walks around the bays we visit, to name a few; To the spectacular excavations in the bay of Knidos, the walk to Söğüt Köyü, to name a few. Of course you don’t have to, but the possibilities are always there. The trips with Yvonne are included in the flotilla price and we are the only ones who offer this consistently.
On Saturday you will arrive at the Yacht Classic Resort and you can immediately use all the facilities we have to offer there. Even if your sailing yacht is not completely ready, your holiday will start right away. You can use the swimming pools, the beach beds, the pool bar, the restaurant and there is even a very good hammam. In the meantime, the sailing yacht is waiting for you at the jetty. The service at our home base is of an exceptionally high level, they even bring the snacks and drinks to your beach bed. Today you also have enough time to do your shopping for on board during your sailing holiday. The supermarket is close by and will happily bring your groceries on board for you, optionally also cooled.
In the evening you can enjoy a delicious dinner by the water, where the fish often swim by and if you are lucky, a water turtle will also swim by. The kitchen is of a high standard and you will be pampered by the service. All in all, a wonderful way to end your day of travel and get ready for a first night on board your sailing yacht. It goes without saying that we have already made the beds for the entire crew.
The next morning there is plenty of time to take a nice shower in the luxurious shower buildings and enjoy the delicious and abundant breakfast. You can also enjoy this on the water with a view of the bay and the sailing yachts. At 11 am you will receive an extensive briefing from us at the pool bar about what we are going to do and every day we pass on the possibilities of all things that we can still organize for everyone regarding sailing. On other days we always brief you at 10:00 am. We do not have any set routes in this flotilla.
The first day we leave for fantastic turquoise blue bays of the Gulf of Fethiye. This is a trip of about 2.5 hours sailing and gives us the chance to get to know each other a bit before we go on an adventure. The next morning after breakfast and briefing, we head out of the Gulf of Fethiye west to Ekinçik, where we moor for a fairytale setting with great bathing water. The tables in the restaurant are covered with real table linen and there is a wide choice of different types of fish, meat and vegetarian. The latter is widely available as well as gluten-free. Here we are served by waiters in sailor suits. Before dinner or departure the next day, we can make use of the luxury showers.
From there we leave for Ciftlic. With this tour of about 17 miles we also base Marmaris bay. In Ciftlic we moor at Rafet Baba or at Mehmets Place. These are two brothers, each with a restaurant with an exceptionally good kitchen, both for dinner and breakfast. In the afternoon after arrival there is more than enough time to enjoy the magical blue water through swimming, various water sports and even water scooters. This bay also has beautiful beaches.
Wednesday we set sail further west to finally moor in Serçe. Hassan has a farm here with a beautiful restaurant on the water including a dock for the sailing yachts. Small boats with merchandise, such as shirts, scarfs, hammam towels, olive soap, etc. pass the boats or the jetty in the afternoon to offer their things. Meanwhile, you can swim or enjoy a drink on the back deck. As soon as Hassan has taken a shower, he has been transformed from farmer to restaurant owner, a task that he more than lives up to. His brother is in the kitchen and is a surprisingly good cooking talent and Hassan serves the tables with the necessary humor. So top evening is assured! In the morning the cows often walk through the restaurant to the next piece of grassland or to be milked.
The next day we turn the corner towards Sailors Paradice, the name certainly does justice to this beautiful blue bay. A sea of tranquility with a fantastic restaurant, run by a very friendly family. For hiking enthusiasts there are several paths that lead over the mountains, but you can of course also just enjoy from the back deck of your sailing yacht.
Friday we go to Datça, a Turkish town that has retained its charm over time. Most tourism here comes from the sea. Datça has a beautiful boulevard with all kinds of nice shops, good restaurants and cozy bars. You can even eat on the beach with your feet in the sand. Mainly the Turks themselves go here and it is still very small-scale. You can also shop here pleasantly and carefree, without the sellers picking you off the street, as in Marmaris for example.
Saturday we set sail for Knidos. This is a beautiful sailing trip around the Greek island of Simi to the very tip of the Turkish peninsula on the other side. Once there, a nice surprise awaits you, because you will find yourself in the middle of the Greek antiquities. For example, there is an arena, ancient Greek streets with pillars, etc. Too many to mention and actually much more beautiful to discover for yourself. Don’t forget to bring your camera. Yvonne and I even spent two days here to admire everything.
After all these impressions we are heading today towards a very surprising place, Selimiye. Here we can moor at the jetty of the village, but also at that of a very nice restaurant. We always make the choice a few days in advance to reserve one of the two. This is a nice fishing village with a beautiful boulevard with many nice shops, restaurants and bars with beautiful terraces on the water. Again, you will be overwhelmed by the friendliness of the Turks.
On Monday we have a short sail to Dirsek. Dirsek is breathtakingly beautiful. A bay where it is wonderful to stay. Wonderful swimming and snorkeling where there are underwater springs, especially an experience at full moon. A hike in the mountains is also very worthwhile, once you have a beautiful view of the Greek island of Simi. Once at the table you discover that Turkish cuisine is delicious, fresh and very diverse everywhere. Dirsek is certainly not excluded.
On Tuesday we will head east again and about 3 miles after the curve of the great cape we will sail around an old castle into the bay of Buzukale. Here are 3 restaurants, all with a jetty with mooring lines. With the flotilla we usually choose Lorina restaurant, which is located at the very back of the bay. The top photo shows a bit of what to expect, very beautiful. From here you can take a beautiful walk to the remains of the old castle at the entrance of the bay. This hiking adventure is definitely worth it. In the evening there is often live music on the water.
Wednesday we set course again to Ciftlic, of course we take the restaurant where we had not yet been (look away) of one of the two brothers.
On Thursday we have a long trip, during which we enter the Gulf of Fethiye. Here we moor at Sarsala and are welcomed by the owners of this fairytale-like place. Here too, the daredevils can indulge in various water sports and it is also a nice place to paddle board. The cuisine here is also exceptionally good and besides the fresh fish, the meatballs and the half chickens are recommended here.
For guests who would like a wonderful hammam treatment on Friday or Saturday, it is best to indicate this a few days before arrival, so that we can reserve this.
On Friday we moor again at our home base. People who come back a little early will then have plenty of time to visit the royal tombs in the city, or enjoy the comforts of our home base. In most cases, the guests come in early to end the week together at the pool bar.
For those who love it, we reserve Megri restaurant or Mori restaurant at our home base for dinner. Megri is a very good restaurant in the middle of the old city center, on a square under a foliage. Delicious food in the middle of the Turkish atmosphere with herb and carpet shops, a good barber and nice shopping streets for after dinner and a bar street for the later hours. At our Yacht Classic resort we enjoy a delicious meal at the water where the fish swim by in large numbers. The swimming pools, pool bar and sun beds make it more than possible to relax before and after dinner. It is within walking distance of the old center and there is still enough time before and after dinner to explore and do some shopping if desired. Or just relax and enjoy the stars on the boat.
This sailing holiday will stay in your mind for a long time and will also give you many smiles from ear to ear in the future.
